The BSE Sensex opened 231.33 points up at 27,358, while NSE Nifty opened 90.15 points up at 8,413.35. At 9:38AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27,590 up 463 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,455 up 132 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 1.08% at 12,009, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 1.07% at 12,105.
ICICI Bank, NTPC, Tata Motors, L&T, Bharti Airtel and Hero MotoCorp are among the gainers, whereas Sunrise Asian, Jaiprakash Power Ventures, RattanIndia Power and United Spirits are losing sheen on BSE. All the sectoral indices were trading in the green. Some buying activity is seen in telecom, capital goods, banking, utilities, finance, metal, power and realty sectors are showing gainers on BSE.
The INDIA VIX is down 3.31% at 14.5825. Out of 1,810 stocks traded on the NSE, 205 declined, 1,241 advanced and 364 remained unchanged today. A total of 64 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while seven stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The rupee opened higher by 23 paise at 67.12/$ against US Dollar Monday as against the previous close of 67.39/$. The rupee gained against the dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today as exporters and banks stepped up dollar sale amid higher opening in the domestic equity market.
Asian markets opened higher on Monday. Japan's Nikkei jumped 3.4%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite up over 1%.
