Indices snapped a three-day losing streak led by gains in the banking, capital goods, FMCG, realty and power stocks. Economic Survey said the government will likely meet its FY16 fiscal deficit target of 3.9%, while at the same time it also indicated that India’s long run potential GDP growth is substantial, about 8 to 10%. RBI announced a $1.75 billion bond purchase and said it would not allow debt issued by state governments as part of a bailout scheme for power companies to hit markets.
Finally BSE Sensex ended with a gain of 178 points at 23,154. The BSE Sensex opened at 23,141, touched an intra-day high of 23,228 and low of 23,022. The NSE Nifty closed with a gain of 59 points at 7,030. The NSE Nifty opened at 7,039 hitting a high of 7,053 and low of 6,985.
