The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 24,646 up 30 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,504 up 15 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.39% at 10,375, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.38% at 10,610.

Some buying activity is seen in utilities, banking, capital goods, energy, telecom and metals sectors, while IT and teck sectors are showing weakness on BSE. Tata Steel, Axis, SBI, Adani Ports, Bharti Airtel and Coal India are among the gainers, whereas Sobha, Sadbhav, Just Dial, Tata Powers and Bharat Forge are losing sheen on BSE.

The INDIA VIX is up 5.71% at 19.1500. Out of 1,784 stocks traded on the NSE, 538 declined and 889 advanced today. A total of 11 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 15 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

Indian Rupee opened at 67.85/$, down by 21 paise in early trade on Monday as against the previous close of 67.64/$. On Friday, Indian rupee moved lower against the greenback, influenced by demand for US dollar from the importers. US dollar rebounded against the basket of major currencies, with dollar index moving higher above 97 levels.
