After enjoying the best week of gains for the calendar year, the Indian equity market shut with modest gains on Monday extending their winning streak for the fourth consecutive trading session. Today’s gains were led by the oil & gas, realty, energy, banking and auto stocks. Even the mid-cap and the small-cap stocks participated in today’s upswing. On the other hand, power, IT and utilities stocks were under pressure.
HUL, Bosch, UltraTech Cement, ZEEL, Sun Pharmaceuticals, RIL, Dr. Reddy's, Asian Paints, Grasim Industries and ONGC were among the gainers on NSE, whereas Tech Mahindra, NTPC, GAIL, ITC, Maruti Suzuki, Adani Ports and Power Grid were among the losers today.
Meanwhile, the Indian rupee was trading down 8 paise at 68.54 per US dollar.
