The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 23,120 up 31 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,021 up mere two points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.34% at 9,621, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.01% at 9,685.
Lupin, Sun Pharma, Tata Motors, M&M, ICICI Bank and ONGC are among the gainers, whereas Adani Ports, Bharti Airtel, NTPC, Axis Bank and ITC are losing sheen on BSE.
Some buying activity is seen in metal, finance, capital goods and consumer durables sectors, while IT, telecom, utilities, power and realty sectors are showing weakness on BSE.
The INDIA VIX is down 2.27% at 22.4325. Out of 1,779 stocks traded on the NSE, 638 declined, 760 advanced and 381 remained unchanged today. A total of four stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 87 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The Indian rupee opened higher by 6 paise at 68.50/$ on Thursday against previous close of 68.56/$. Yesterday, rupee has scaled higher against the greenback in the overseas NDF markets and the overall trend remains vulnerable, considering the turmoil in domestic equities and persistent foreign capital outflows. Meanwhile, month end dollar demand is also taking a toll on Indian rupee.
