Nifty is trading above 10,131 and Bank Nifty is now trading in the green
Benchmark indices recover with Nifty is trading above 10,131 and Bank Nifty is also trading in the green and is marginally. However, ahead of mid-term review of foreign trade policy due later today and RBI policy tomorrow, investors have adopted a cautious approach.

Metal stocks dropped as weakness in prices of metals plunged sharply. Copper prices traded down 1.6% while Nickel and zinc prices moved lower by 2.1% and 0.7% respectively. The BSE Metal index is currently down 1.5%. The biggest decliners during the session have been Jindal Steel and Power (-3.1%), Nalco (-2.5%), JSW Steel (-2.5%) and Tata Steel (-2.1%).

Shares of Reliance Industries rose 1.6%, snapping a three-session losing streak.

Shares of Bafna Pharmaceuticals were down 2.4% after Encore Healthcare filed an insolvency plea against the company at the National Company Law Tribunal.

Bajaj Finance (2%), Reliance (1.6%), Yes Bank (1.5%) and BPCL (1.4%) were the top gainers on Nifty50.

Hero Motocorp (-2.1%), Wipro (-2%), Tata Steel (-1.9%) and Eicher Motors (-1.8%) were the top losers in today’s trade.

India VIX is up 14.985 at 1%. Earlier in the morning hours, the index had surged ~3% due to weakness in both domestic as well as Asian equities.

Out of 1,986 stocks traded on the NSE, 603 advanced, 1070 declined, and 313 remained unchanged today.

A total of 41 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 23 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
