The 50-share Nifty index is expected to open flat-to-higher on Wednesday following mixed trend seen in other Asian markets. However, the broader trend still remains on the downside, and if Nifty fails to build on momentum, it may pare gains and retest its crucial psychological level of 7,750 in trade today. At 08:00 A.M., Nifty India stock futures in Singapore were trading 36 points lower at 7,825 indicating a flat opening on the domestic market.

Markets participants are likely to react positively after the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday said that the government has decided not to levy Minimum Alternate Tax ( MAT) on capital gains made by FIIs retrospectively. Benchmark indices plunged over 2 per cent each on Tuesday to close at over one-year low. The S&P BSE Sensex ended 586.65 points lower or 2.23 per cent at 25,696.44, and Nifty index closed 185 points lower or 0.45 per cent at 7785.85. Country's key macro-data with slower GDP growth of April-June quarter, subdued Asian cues amid weakness in China's economy loomed over the trading sentiments on Tuesday.
