Sensex, Nifty In Red; Fmcg, Pharma Stocks Drag

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26,156 down 63 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,908 down 17 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.22% at 10,670, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.80% at 10,890. The India VIX (Volatility) index is up 1.18% to 18.51. Out of 1,741 stocks traded on the NSE, 573 declined and 895 advanced today.

Hindalco, Maruti Suzuki, Axis Bank, Tata Motors and GAIL among the gainers, whereas RIL, Cipla, Dr. Reddy's, HDFC, ITC and HUL are losing sheen on BSE. Torrent Power trading higher by 3% to Rs. 168 after reports said that its gas-based power plants will get government subsidy on use of re-gasified liquefied natural gas ( RLNG) for six months from October to March.
