Sensex Crashes 400 Points

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26,056 down 137 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,910 down 66 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.24% at 10,667, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.28% at 10,966.

Some buying activity is seen in IT, pharma, consumer durable, banking, pharma, fmcg, teck, oil&gas and auto sectors, while metal, capital goods and power sectors are showing weakness on BSE. Infosys, HCL Technologies, Wipro, ITC, Tech Mahindra, M&M and Cairn India are among the gainers, whereas Hindalco, NTPC, Bharti Airtel, RIL, Yes Bank and Power Grid are losing sheen on NSE. The India VIX (Volatility index) is up 5.1% at 19.11.

Around 18 stocks have rallied to register a fresh 52-week high on the NSE counter, while 13 stocks have hit 52-week low. Out of 1,726 stocks have traded on the NSE - 936 stocks have advanced, while 484 stocks have declined. MMTC is trading on a positive note after the company announced that it will sell its 10% stake in the commodity bourse ICEX equally among two bidders, who participated in the global tender. The stock is currently trading at Rs. 44.5, up by 2.4 points or 5.7% from its previous closing of Rs. 42.1 on the BSE.

Shares of Infosys were higher by 25 to Rs. 1125 after the company has signed a three-year agreement with TOMS Shoes to become its worldwide partner to maintain and develop its digital platform.
