The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 25,254 up 152 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,733 up 27 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.07% at 10,926 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.07% at 10,932.

HDFC, Tata Motors, BHEL, Sun Pharma and Lupin are among the gainers, whereas Adani Ports, Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, RIL,Tata Steel and TCS are losing sheen on BSE.

Some buying activity is seen in realty, FMCG, power, pharma, auto, capital goods, banking and energy sectors, while telecom, IT, consumer durables and energy sectors are showing weakness on BSE.

The INDIA VIX is down 1.41% at 17.1975. Out of 1,804 stocks traded on the NSE, 758 declined, 766 advanced and 280 remained unchanged today. A total of nine stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 26 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The Indian rupee opened lower by 4 paise at 66.59/$ against US Dollar on Thursday as against the previous close of 66.55/$. On Wednesday, Indian rupee was under pressure, weighed by the weakness in domestic equities. Moreover, the recovery in the greenback against the basket of major currencies led a cascading effect on the emerging market currencies. The recent weakness in US dollar has been primarily triggered by the surge in Japanese Yen. In this respect, a stronger Yen is not sustainable considering the gloomy economic landscape in Japan.
