The BSE Sensex opened 26.61 points up at 25,256.97, while NSE Nifty opened 7 points up at 7,738. At 2:39 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 25,282 up 52 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,739 up mere eight points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.60% at 10,925, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.76% at 10,839. NTPC, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, RIL, Tata Steel and Cipla are among the gainers, whereas Bajaj-Auto, Sun Pharmaceuticals, BHEL, ONGC and TCS are losing sheen on BSE.

Some buying activity is seen in utilities and auto sectors, while oil and gas, realty, pharma, IT and FMCG sectors are showing weakness on BSE. The INDIA VIX is down 1.94% at 16.4750. Out of 1,812 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,071 declined, 460 advanced and 281 remained unchanged today.

A total of 18 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 43 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE. The Indian rupee opened lower by 17 paise at 67.66/$ against US Dollar on Tuesday as against the previous close of 67.49/$. In international markets, the greenback maintained firm tone against the basket of currencies, barring Japanese Yen. Yen regained lost ground after several ministers at G‐7 meeting echoed objections in respect with intervention by BOJ in the currency markets.
