The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 25,716 down 56 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,873 down 15 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.17% at 11,144, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.18% at 11,062.
Axis Bank, NTPC, Asian Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj-Auto, Tata Steel and Tata Motors are among the gainers, whereas Dr.Reddy's, Coal India, Adani Ports, ONGC, BHEL and ITC are losing sheen on BSE. Some buying activity is seen in auto, banking, capital goods, industrial and basic materials sectors, while telecom, power, IT, utilities and consumer durables sectors are showing weakness on BSE.
The INDIA VIX is up 3.82% at 17.0425. Out of 1,807 stocks traded on the NSE, 737 declined, 703 advanced and 367 remained unchanged today. A total of 20 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 26 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The Indian rupee opened lower by 13 paise at 66.80/$ against US Dollar on Tuesday as against the previous close of 66.67/$. Indian rupee exhibited weakness, as US dollar persisted with the strength against the major currencies. There has been strong rebound in US dollar particularly against Japanese Yen. Euro has also retreated from the recent highs. Resilience in US dollar was at lower levels wasquite expected, given the divergent monetary policy between US and other developed economies (EU & Japan).
UCO Bank jumped 3.3% to Rs.38.65 on BSE. The bank has informed BSE that it has issued and allotted 22,54,64,190 equity shares of Rs.10 each for cash on May 10 at an issue price of Rs.41.47 per equity share including premium of Rs. 31.47 per share.
Automotive Axles rallied 5.6% to Rs.647.50 on BSE. The company reported standalone net profit of Rs. 10.87 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2016, registering growth of 119.46% yoy and 31.82% qoq. The company’s revenue stood at Rs. 311.79 crore, up 21.89% yoy and 16.66% qoq.
