The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 25,805 up 151 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,908 up 48 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.39% at 11,251, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.55% at 11,167.

ONGC, Axis Bank, HDFC, GAIL, Hero MotoCorp, L&T and Asian Paints are among the gainers, whereas NTPC, HUL, Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, Adani Ports, SBI and Tata Steel are losing sheen on BSE. Some buying activity is seen in oil and gas, capital goods, realty, banking,  telecom, industrial, energy and IT sectors, while telecom and power sectors are showing weakness on BSE.

The INDIA VIX is down 2.08% at 16.6775. Out of 1,806 stocks traded on the NSE, 548 declined, 898 advanced and 360 remained unchanged today. A total of 39 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 10 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE. 

The Indian rupee opened higher by 6 paise at 66.74/$ against US Dollar on Tuesday as against the previous close of 66.80/$. On the domestic front, wholesale inflation rose 0.34% during April, the first rise after seventeen consecutive months of contraction. The rise in wholesale prices is attributed to higher costs for food and manufactured items. Prices of food articles which contribute 14.3% to Wholesale Price Index rose 4.23% on yoy basis, while prices of manufactured products rose 0.71% on yoy basis. Manufactured items have a weightage of approximately 65% in the WPI.
