The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 25,355 up 53 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,773 up 23 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.44% at 11,072, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.35% at 11,002.
ITC, Adani Ports, Tata Motors, HUL, Bharti Airtel, Lupin, ICICI Bank, GAIL, and Axis Bank are among the gainers, whereas Sun Pharma, ONGC, Cipla, Wipro, Bajaj-Auto and Infosys are losing sheen on BSE.
Some buying activity is seen in FMCG, telecom, utilities, metal, consumer durables, industrial, basic materials, banking and auto sectors, while pharma, realty, capital goods, IT and teck sectors are showing weakness on BSE.
The INDIA VIX is down 1.75% at 16.1375. Out of 1,815 stocks traded on the NSE, 634 declined, 830 advanced and 351 remained unchanged today. A total of 19 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 28 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The Indian rupee opened higher by 7 paise at 67.30/$ against US Dollar on Monday as against the previous close of 67.37/$. On Friday, rupee extended the weakness, as various emerging market currencies remained on the defensive, weighed by the reinforced perception of a rate hike by US Fed in June.
