The BSE Sensex opened 49.25 points up at 26,415.93, while NSE Nifty opened 12.30 points up at 8,081.95. The BSE Sesnsex rose over 100 points while the NSE Nifty moved above its crucial psychological level of 8,100 on the back of buying in pharma and oil & gas stocks.The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26,542 up 186 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,131 up 62 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 1.42% at 11,350, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.72% at 11,128.
Sun Pharma, Adani Ports, Lupin, ICICI Bank, RIL, Cipla, BHEL and Bajaj-Auto are among the gainers, whereas L&T, ITC, ONGC, Axis Bank, NTPC, Tata Motors and M&M are losing sheen on BSE. Some buying activity is seen in oil and gas, pharma, realty, energy, basic materials, metal and banking sectors, while FMCG is showing weakness on BSE.
The INDIA VIX is up 2.21% at 15.6650. Out of 1,810 stocks traded on the NSE, 509 declined, 986 advanced and 315 remained unchanged today.
A total of 38 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 21 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
