Nifty Ends Above 8,100 Level

The BSE Sensex opened at 26,379, touched an intra-day high of 26,809 and low of 26,375 respectively, and finally ended with a gain of 565 points at 26,789. Gainers was seen in banking, capital goods, consumer durables, auto, metal and oil & gas stocks.

The NSE Nifty opened at 8,005 hitting a high of 8,127 before signing off with a gain of 168 points or 2.1% at 8,119. The India VIX (Volatility) indexis down 0.25% to 19.18.

Back to equities,the CNX Nifty Junior and the Midcap indices gained to 19,752 and 12,999, respectively, while the Smallcap index ended flat 0.19% to 5,243. On the global front, Asian equities ended on a positive note on Monday by weak US jobs data that could delay the US Federal Reserve's rate hike decision. China's Shanghai Composite index gained 0.50% to 3,053. The Hang Seng jumped 1.9% to 20,926, and the Nikkei rallied 1.6% at 18,005.

As of 1530 hrs IST, the FTSE 100 had soared 2.1% to 6,269. The DAX and the CAC 40 had jumped over 2% at 9,779 and 4,600, respectively. The Indian currency was quoted at 65.50 per US dollar, up 47 paise from the previous trading session.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd closed higher by 4% to Rs. 318. The company has entered into a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with L&T Shipbuilding Ltd for evaluating the operations of the port at Kattupalli, Tamil Nadu, with effect from October 2015 for a period of one month.
