Sensex, Nifty Flat Ahead Of WPI Data

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26,819 down 27 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,123 down 8 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.10% at 10,946, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.56% at 11,459.

Some buying activity is seen in consumer durabled, pharma, metal, capital goods, oil& gas, power and realty sectors, while IT, auto and teck sectors are showing weakness on BSE. Hindalco, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, Vedanta, ACC and IndusInd Bank are among the gainers, whereas TCS, Zee Ent, ICICI Bank, Cipla, Idea Cellular, Bank of Baroda and Tata Motors are losing sheen on NSE.

Indian Rupee today opened at 65.12/$ higher by 7 paise in early trade on Wednesday. Yesterday rupee fell past the key 65.00 level, touching a 5‐day low of 65.19 a greenback. Moreover, the sustained dollar demand from oil importers further forced rupee to depreciate over half per cent for the day. On macroeconomic side, The dollar held steady near one‐month lows against the other major currencies on Tuesday, as declining expectations for a U.S. rate hike this year continued to dampen demand for the greenback. US Dollar Index continues to extend its recovery from session troughs in the 94.50 region, currently testing the vicinity of 94.80.
