The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26,964 down 41 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,163 down 16 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.07% at 11,014, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.41% at 11,490. Some buying activity is seen in capital goods, auto, oil & gas, IT, power and teck sectors, while pharma, fmcg and consumer durables sectors are showing weakness on BSE.
Tata Motors, L&T, NTPC, Maruti Suzuki, RIL and Bajaj-Auto are among the gainers, whereas Lupin, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, Coal India, ITC and Hindalco are losing sheen on BSE. Indian Rupee today opened at 64.94/$ lower by 8 paise in early trade on Friday. On macroeconomic side, the dollar fell lowest against the other major currencies, as the previous session's downbeat U.S. economic data continued to weigh on demand for the greenback. Most Asian currencies closed higher after weak US economic data added to expectations that the Federal Reserve will delay hiking interest rates. Yesterday, US Labor Department said consumer prices index slipped by 0.2 percent in September after edging down by 0.1 percent in August. The INDIA VIX is down 2.5% at 16.74. Out of 1,744 stocks traded on the NSE, 781 declined and 686 advanced today.
