The domestic market on Tuesday retreated from its two-month high to end flat, tracking weak trends in other Asian and European markets and weighed down by IT and metal stocks. The S&P BSE Sensex ended the day 57 points, or 0.2 per cent, lower at 26,846.53 while the 50-stock barometer Nifty50 closed with a loss of 12 points, or 0.15 per cent, at 8,132. ONGC and Hindalce were the top losers on the benchmark Sensex, shedding 3.5 and 3 per cent, respectively.

Investors and traders remained cautious ahead of the September quarter earnings of Tata Consultancy Services, which is scheduled to release the number after market hours later in the day. Weak revenue guidance from Infosys on Monday weighed heavy on the IT stocks for the second day, dragging the benchmark indices lower.
