The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27,381 up 15 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,284 up 9 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.72% at 11,204, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.64% at 11,659. The India VIX (Volatility) index is up 0.13% to 16.90. Out of 1,744 stocks traded on the NSE, 466 declined and 978 advanced today.
Some buying activity is seen in auto, capital goods, IT, consumer durables, banking and power sectors, while metal and oil&gas sectors are showing weakness on BSE. Reliance Power, Adani Power, Torrent Power, GMR Infra and RattanIndia Power are among the gainers, whereas GATI, Gruh Finance, Cipla, IFCI and Gateway Distriparks are losing sheen on BSE.
Indian Rupee today opened lower by 15 paise at 64.95/$ in early trade on Tuesday. On macroeconomic side, a slew of numbers were released last week, which portrays Indian economic story as a bright spot amid a fragile global economic backdrop. In international markets, US dollar continues to lose ground, as minutes of the recent US FOMC meeting suggests that a rate hike by Federal Reserve this year is very unlikely.
