The Nifty PSU index was trading 0.85% up at 3,809 on Thursday, with shares of Indian Bank (+6%), PNB, Union Bank, Bank Of India (+2%) and SBI (+1%) as the top gainers.

The Indian equity markets snapping its two-session losing streak on value-buying by investors and optimism ahead of GST Council meeting. Buying by domestic institutional institutions and a firm trend on other Asian bourses, tracking overnight gains in the US markets, influenced trading sentiment.

In the Nifty50 index, Reliance Industries, Indiabulls HF, Asian Paints, HUL and ICICI Bank were among the top gainers, whereas Yes Bank, HDFC, GAIL, Aurobindo and ZEE were among the losers.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 13 points up at 10,316, while the BSE Sensex was 57 points up at 33,276.

On the NSE, 969 stocks were advancing, compared with 626 stocks declining and 378 stocks remaining unchanged.

Tata Motors also rose 1% ahead of its Q2 earnings to be announced later in the day.

Shares of Bombay Dyeing rallied 5% after strong Q2 numbers. The company has reported net profit for the quarter of Rs 52.8 crore vs net loss of Rs 36.6 crore in Q2FY17. Its standalone revenue for the quarter came in at Rs 692.2 crore, registering 34.8% yoy increase. This was primarily driven by 250% yoy increase in revenues from Real estate segment.

Bharti Airtel rebounds 1% after 3.5% fall previous session. Three Pillars Pte, an affiliate of Qatar Foundation Endowment, sold 19.98 crore shares in Bharti Airtel via an open market sale.

L&T Technology rose 2% to Rs 893. Trading volume was over 20 times the 20-day average.

Shares of Arvind Ltd recovered marginally in today’s session and opened trade at Rs 420.45, up 1.5%. The shares fell sharply on the announcement of the demerger and closed the session at Rs 414.4, down 9% in yesterday’s trade.

Shares of Dewan Housing Finance Corp were up 3.7% today on several large deals on the NSE. Over 2.2 million shares of Dewan Housing were traded on the NSE against a daily average of 1.1 million shares.

Muthoot Finance added 2% in morning on the back of strong Q2 numbers. The company’s net profit for the quarter rose by 53% yoy to Rs 454 crore in Q2FY18 vs Rs 296 crore in previous year corresponding quarter.
