Indices end higher for the fifth consecutive session, riding on the gains of Media and PSU Bank stocks. PSU Bank Index gains 1%, led by SBI (+1.5%) and Indian Bank(+2%). Nifty Media Index gains 2.5%, leading the sectorial indices, backed by Zee Entertainment appreciating over 3.5%.
Sensex closed at 33,561, up 83 points, while Nifty ends trade at 10,342, up 15 points.
The BSE Mid-cap Index closed lower by 0.05% at 16,785, whereas BSE Small-cap Index ended trade at 17,853, up 0.23% .
On the BSE, Finance (+0.16%), Industrials(+0.47%), and Auto(+0.30%) sectors gained, while Energy(-0.19%), Healthcare(-0.52%), Telecom(-1.15%), Power(-0.05%) and Metal(-0.66%) showed weakness.
India Vix is trading higher by 2.35% at 14.03 level.
Among the 1,985 stocks being traded, 783 advanced, 897 declined and 305 remained unchanged.
A total of 90 stocks have touched 52-week high, while 21 stocks dipped to 52-week low since morning on the NSE.
Closing Bell: Gainers: Zee (+4%), Adani Ports (+3%), GAIL (+2%). Losers: Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Fin (-2%).
Nifty Pharma Index dips 1%. Divi’s Lab (-2%), Dr.Reddy’s, Aurobindo (-2%), Cadila, Lupin (-1%).
