Nifty Above 10,340 Level; Sun Pharma Gains 3.5%

Nifty and Sensex rise as pharma and media sector blooms.

Nifty has crossed the 10,340 level on the back of Pharma Index, which has gained over 2%. Sun Pharma and Dr Reddy lead the Pharma Index, rising by 3%. Media stocks made a buzz with Network 18 and HT Media gaining 5% and 3% respectively.

Sensex is trading at 33,504, up 144 points, while Nifty is trading at 10,341, up 43 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading higher by 0.39% at 16,844, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading at 17,867, up 0.68% .

On the BSE, Energy, Healthcare, Telecom, Consumer Durables, and Oil & Gas sectors gained, while Realty showed weakness.

India Vix is trading lower by 1.15% at 13.27 level.

Among the 1,981 stocks being traded, 1,104 advanced, 529 declined and 348 remained unchanged.

A total of 83 stocks have touched 52-week high, while 11 stocks dipped to 52-week low since morning on the NSE.


Nifty Pharma Index rises 2%. Dr.Reddy's, Sun Pharma, Cipla (+3%), Lupin (+2%).

Heritage Foods stock gains 3% after 2.3 lakh shares or 0.9% change hands in two blocks.

Zuari Agro Chemicals stock up 1.5% on fund raising plan.
