The stock market mildly higher, with the Nifty getting back above 10,350 amid consolidation, while the broader markets gained strength. Sectoral indices such as technology, IT, pharma and realty stocks jump.
Sensex gained by 78 points at 33,639 and the Nifty traded 22 points higher at 10,364.
The BSE Mid-cap is trading marginally higher by 0.28% at 16,832, and BSE Small-cap Index up by 0.75% at 17,987.
Among the Nifty50 Index, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HPCL, Sun Pharma, Airtel and RIL were the major gainers, whereas Dr.Reddy’s, Adani Ports, Asian Paints, Hindalco, NTPC and Axis Bank were the major losers in today’s trade.
On the BSE, IT, Telecom (+1%), Energy (+0.79%), and Oil and Gas (+0.49%) sectors gained, while Consumer Durables (-0.38%), Finance (-0.11%), and Metal (-0.08%) showed weakness.
India VIX slipped by 0.05% at 14.03 level.
Among the 1,984 stocks being traded, 1,063 advanced, 552 declined and 369 remained unchanged.
Indoco Remedies stock climbs 8% on the BSE. Trading volume was 35.8 times its 20-day average.
Life insurance cos down on report of tax hike proposal. SBI Life Insurance (-2.5%).
Jewellery stocks gain. Gitanjali Gems (+9.5%), TBZ (+7%), PC Jeweller (+2.5%).
Biocon stock spurts 2%, as the company launches antibody KRABEVA for treating cancer.
Nifty IT Index up 1%. KPIT (+3%), Tech Mahindra (+2%), Infy, HCL Tech (+1%).
