The Sensex and Nifty were trading flat in the afternoon deal as, heavy selling seen in metal, consumer durables and realty stocks whereas, IT and Teck stocks remained in the green.
Sensex gained by 17 points at 33,579 and the Nifty traded 4 points higher at 10,345.
Among BSE sectoral indices, metal index fell the most by 1%, followed by consumer durables 0.61%, realty 0.66% and banking 0.33%. On the other hand, IT index was up 1.10%, Teck 0.69%, capital goods 0.11% and oil & gas 0.13%.
The broader markets were trading mixed with the BSE MidCap Index marginally lower and the S&P BSE SmallCap Index rose 0.09%.
Among the Nifty50 Index, Infosys, HCL Tech,Tech Mahindra, Eicher Motors, HPCL and RIL were the major gainers, whereas Adani Ports, Hindalco, Dr.Reddy’s, Vedanta and GAIL were the major losers in today’s trade.
India VIX rose by 0.23% at 14.07 level.

Aptech stock gain over 13% to its highest level since January 2008. Stock is up over 25% in last 6 sessions.
Zydus gets tentative approval from the USFDA for Tadalafil Tablets USP. Cadila stock trades down.
