The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 25,979 up 141 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,901 up 40 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.38% at 11,060, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.71% at 11,814. Some buying activity is seen in capital goods, banking, auto, energy, utilities and industrial sectors, while telecom sector is showing weakness on BSE.
ICICI Bank, GAIL, Tata Motors, RIL, ONGC, NTPC, M&M, Coal India and BHEL are among the gainers, whereas Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, Asian Paints, Adani Ports and ITC are losing sheen on BSE. The India VIX (Volatility) index is up 3.98% to 14.2925. Out of 1,755 stocks traded on the NSE, 416 declined and 934 advanced today.
A total of 36 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while four stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE. Indian rupee opened at 66.10/$ higher by 12 paise in early trade on Monday. RBI’s involvement in the Forex markets has provided lot of stability to the Indian rupee. On the domestic front, India’s current account widened to 1.6% of GDP during the second quarter of the FY 2015‐16, when compared with the reading of 1.2% during the prior quarter. However on yoy basis, the deficit has narrowed from the 2.2% during the same quarter last year.
