The BSE Sensex opened at 25,765, touched an intra-day high of 25,589.51 and low of 25,482. It finally ended with a loss of 285 points at 25,519. The NSE Nifty opened at 7,829 hitting a high of 7,836 and low of 7,754, before ending with a loss of 82 points at 7,762.
The India VIX (Volatility) index was up 1.95% to 14.4925. On the global front, China's Shanghai Composite index closed flat and Hang Seng fell 0.15%. In Europe, the FTSE 100 down 1%. On the other hand, DAX and the CAC 40 were marginally up.
Adani Ports, Idea Cellular, Power Grid, Asian Paints, Ambuja Cement, Kotak Bank and Tata Power were among the gainers on NSE, whereas Vedanta, UltraTech Cement, Bajaj-Auto, SBI, Infosys and Reliance Industries were among the losers today.
Out of 1,770 stocks traded on the NSE, 816 declined and 714 advanced today. A total of 58 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 14 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
