The BSE Sensex opened at 26,076, touched an intra-day high of 26,134 and low of 25,994. It finally ended with a gain of 45 points at 26,079. The NSE Nifty opened at 7,929 hitting a high of 7,942 and low of 7,903, before ending with a gain of mere four points at 7,929. The India VIX (Volatility) index was down 1.19% to 14.2300. On the global front, China's Shanghai Composite index and Hang Seng closed up.
In Europe, the FTSE 100 marginally up. On the other hand, DAX and the CAC 40 were slipped 1% each. Bajaj-Auto, Ambuja Cement, Grasim Industries, ACC, M&M, GAIL, Zee Ent, Bharti Airtel and Tata Steel were among the gainers on NSE, whereas HCL Tech, BHEL, Coal India, Power Grid, HUL, Dr Reddy's Lab and Tata Motors were among the losers today. Out of 1,775 stocks traded on the NSE, 917 declined and 635 advanced today. A total of 87 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while eight stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
