The BSE Sensex opened at 25,137, touched an intra-day high of 25,290 and low of 25,034. It finally ended with a gain of 216 points at 25,252. The NSE Nifty opened at 7,643 hitting a high of 7,692 and low of 7,610, before ending with a gain of 71 points at 7,684. The India VIX (Volatility) index was down 2.52% to 16.3025.
On the global front, China's Shanghai Composite index and Hang Seng closed down 0.4% respectively. In Europe, the FTSE 100 marginally down 0.14%. On the other hand, DAX and the CAC 40 were slipped 1% each.
Lupin, M&M, Yes Bank, State Bank of India, Tata Motors, PNB, BHEL, HUL and HUL were among the losers today. Out of 1,758 stocks traded on the NSE, 423 declined and 1,102 advanced today. A total of 16 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 48 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
