Sensex, Nifty Languish In Red; Pharma, Auto Drag

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 25,961 down 157 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,888 down 44 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.14% at 11,082, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.11% at 11,677.

Some buying activity is seen in capital goods, realty, utilities and power sectors, while pharma, auto, FMCG, consumer durables, metal and IT sectors are showing weakness on BSE. NTPC, L&T, RIL, GAIL, Axis Bank, Coal India, Wipro, Maruti Suzuki and Bharti Airtel are among the gainers, whereas Tata Steel, BHEL, Cipla, ITC, HUL, M&M, Lupin and ONGC are losing sheen on BSE.

The India VIX (Volatility) index was up 3% to 15.9525. Out of 1,747 stocks traded on the NSE, 749 declined and 673 advanced today. A total of 48 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 9 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
