In today’s trade, Nifty & Sensex closed at record highs.
Bharti Airtel was the biggest contributor to the index gains, closing at the highest point since 2010. All the major indices ended in green with broader markets continuing to outperform.
Nifty futures witnessed fresh long formation during the day with an increase in open interest to the tune of ~7.2 lakh shares i.e a surge of ~2.7%.
Since the start of October F&O expiry, Nifty future contract has added ~68 lakh share in open interest i.e a rise of ~33%, consisting of mainly long positions.
On the options front, ATM/ITM call options strikes did not see heavy activities, while the 10400CE strike added fresh open interest to the tune of ~6.8 lakh shares.
With a huge amount of short selling in Puts along with heavy long build-up in futures, the stellar performance of the index can continue further until the end of October F&O expiry.
