Sensex closes to new high as strong uptrend still seen in banking sector, Nifty holds the trail, keeping 10,270 level. Bank index continues to trade in green, led by SBI bank, while reality index gets dragged down by Phoenix Mills, Indiabulls, and Oberoi Reality.
At 12:54 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 32,965, up by 357 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 10,273 up by 65 points.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down by 0.01% at 16,179 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down by 0.21% at 17,156.
SBI, ICICI Bank, L&T, Axis Bank, and Ultra Cement are among the gainers, whereas Bajaj Finance, Yes Bank, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Kotak Bank, and HCL Technolgoies are losing steam on NSE.
Some buying seen in Basic Materials, Bank, Finance, Industrials, Capital Goods, and Power while Consumer Durables, Healthcare, Reality, and Metal sectors show weakness on the BSE.
The INDIA VIX is down by 0.84% at 11.68.
Out of 1,971 stocks traded on the NSE, 726 advanced, 902 declined, and 343 remained unchanged today.
A total of 61 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 14 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
GIC Re makes a weak debut. The stock lists at Rs 850 vs issue price of Rs 912/sh.
Nifty Realty Index down. Prestige, Indiabulls Real Estate, Godrej Prop (-1%).
RCom stock dips 3% as operator looks to shut down most of its wireless biz in 30 days.
