Benchmark indices recovered losses seen earlier in the session helped by gains in shares of oil marketing and metal companies.
Surge in shares of Bharat Petroleum Corp, India Oil Corp and Hindustan Petroleum Corp aided the gains in the benchmarks after Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said there is need for full marketing and pricing freedom for oil marketing companies.
At 1:50 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 33,092 up by 50 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 10,323, up by 28 points.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up by 0.57% at 16,341 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up by 0.81% at 17,298.
HPCL, BPCL, Cipla, Yes Bank, and L&T are among the gainers, whereas Bharti Airtel, HCL Technologies, Power Grid, Infratel, and ICICI bank are losing steam on NSE.
Some buying seen in Capital Goods, Metals, Basic Materials, Finance, Industrials, Metals, and Oil&Gas,while Telecom, consumer durables, and Tech sectors show weakness on the BSE.
The INDIA VIX is down by 2.29% at 11.49.
Out of 1,971 stocks traded on the NSE, 986 advanced, 662 declined, and 323 remained unchanged today.
A total of 68 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 16 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
Nifty Metal Index up 1%. SAIL (+7%), Hind Copper, MOIL (+4%), NMDC (+2%), Hindalco, Coal India (+1%).
Jaypee Infra, JP Associates stock decline 5-8% as SC refuses nod to sell Yamuna Expressway.KEC Intl secured new order at Rs 1,931 Cr. Stock shines 3%.
Fertilizer stocks gain in trade. Zuari Agro (+7%), FACT (+4.5%), Deepak Fertilisers (+4%), RCF (+2%).
