The BSE Sensex opened higher by 74 points at 29487, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 23 points at the 9163 mark. Hindalco is the top Nifty gainer and Coal India Limited is the top Nifty loser in the morning hours on Tuesday. Hindalco Industries Limited is trading higher by 2.31% at Rs 185.65 per share whereas Coal India is trading lower by 1.03% at Rs 282.85 per share.
All eyes are on the TCS quarterly financial results for the quarter ended on March 31, 2017. TCS is trading higher by 0.3% at Rs 2321.55 per share. Nifty IT index is trading lower by 0.4% at 10042 level.
Nifty50 has immediate resistance placed around levels of 9,160-9,170 and if it manages to hold above this zone, it is likely to scale up to levels of 9,200-9,220. On the downside, supports are seen around levels of 9,100-9,120.
