Finally, the BSE Sensex ended with a loss of 605 points at 26,398. The BSE Sensex opened at 26,367 touched an intra-day high of 26,436 and low of 25,911.
The NSE Nifty closed with a loss of 182 points at 8,089. The NSE Nifty opened at 8,029 hitting a high of 8,101 and low of 7,927.05.
The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26,347 down 655 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,063 down 207 points.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 1.42% at 11,273, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 1.72% at 11,249.
Muthoot Finance, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, Manappuram Finance, Natco Pharma and SPARC are among the gainers, whereas Tata Motors, Tata Steel, L&T, ICICI Bank, SBI, Axis Bank, ONGC and RIL are losing sheen on BSE.
On the economy front, Raghuram G Rajan, Governor said that it looks increasingly clear that the United Kingdom has voted to exit the European Union. Markets are trying to factor the consequences of this development and this has already led to sharp corrections in financial markets around the world.
