The BSE Sensex opened 7.70 points up at 26,410.66, while NSE Nifty opened 1.35 per cent up at 8,096.05. The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26,463 up 60 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,112 up 17 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.35% at 11,443, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.67% at 11,526.
Bharti Airtel, Lupin, L&T, Coal India, Asian Paints, Axis Bank and HUL are among the gainers, whereas Tata Motors, Wipro, ICICI Bank, TCS, Tata Steel and Cipla are losing sheen on BSE. Some buying activity is seen in telecom, capital goods, oil & gas, pharma, FMCG and realty sectors, while IT sector is showing weakness on BSE.
The INDIA VIX is down 1.65% at 18.2225. Out of 1,803 stocks traded on the NSE, 370 declined, 1,098 advanced and 345 remained unchanged today. A total of 45 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 11 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
Gujarat Gas rose 7.8% to Rs.563, after the company has been granted permission to develop city gas distribution network (CGD) in Ahmedabad district. The authorization by The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), however, is for providing natural gas, to urban regions in the district excluding Ahmedabad city areas, where Adani Gas Limited (AGL) already holds the licence to supply PNG and CNG.
