The Indian stock market is trading higher on on a buying build-up by participants, tracking a global rally. The Nifty and the Sensex opened marginally higher a day ahead of derivatives expiry.The BSE Sensex opened 102.60 points up at 26,627.15 while NSE Nifty opened 45.25 points up at 8.173.10.
The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26,686 up 92 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,163 up 35 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.72% at 11,542 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.97% at 11,652.
Tata Motors, L&T, NTPC, Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp, Dr.Reddy's and ICICI Bank are among the gainers, whereas HDFC Bank, Coal India, GAIL, ITC and HUL are losing sheen on BSE. Some buying activity is seen in realty, auto, consumer durables, capital goods, metal, oil & gas, pharma and utilities sectors on BSE.
The INDIA VIX is down 6.64% at 16.5475. Out of 1,815 stocks traded on the NSE, 320 declined, 1.152 advanced and 343 remained unchanged today. A total of 62 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 15 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
IL&FS Transportation stock was up by 1% at Rs.74. The company reportedly said it has increased its stake in Noida Toll Bridge Company (NTBCL) to Rs 26.37%.
