The BSE Sensex opened at 26459.33 down 166.58 points; NSE Nifty dropped to 8112.10 down 58.10 points. The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26,697 up 71 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,196 up 26 points.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.05% at 11,365, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.18% at 11,454. Dr.Reddy's, Infosys, TCS, ONGC, L&T, Cipla and M&M are among the gainers, whereas Asian Paints, Axis Bank, Lupin, ITC, Coal India and HUL are losing sheen on BSE.
Some buying activity is seen in realty, capital goods, IT, auto and teck sectors, while consumer durables, banking, power and pharma sectors are showing weakness on BSE. The INDIA VIX is up 3.35% at 17.9325. Out of 1,811 stocks traded on the NSE, 636 declined, 806 advanced and 369 remained unchanged today.
A total of 17 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 16 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE. Gammon India Ltd stock has hit 20% upper circuit at Rs.14.89.The company reported a net profit of Rs 53.38 crore for the quarter ended March 31,2016.
