The BSE Sensex opened 85.73 points, or 0.32% up at 26482.50, while NSE Nifty opened 23.80 points, or 0.29% up at 8,134.40. At 11:46 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26,401 down mere four points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,100 down mere 11 points.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.31% at 11,355, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.68% at 11,388. Adani Ports, SBI, Tata Motors, GAIL, ONGC, Sun Pharma and ICICI Bank are among the gainers, whereas Hero MotoCorp, HDFC, Bharti Airtel, NTPC and Bajaj-Auto are losing sheen on BSE.
Some buying activity is seen in realty, consumer durables, capital goods, pharma, metal and FMCG sectors, while IT, finance and auto showing weakness on BSE. The INDIA VIX is up 2.83% at 17.0525. Out of 1,804 stocks traded on the NSE, 408 declined, 1,060 advanced and 336 remained unchanged today.
A total of 45 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 12 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE. The Indian rupee depreciated against US Dollar in early trade. The rupee hit fresh 1-week low against US Dollar on sustained demand for the American currency from importers and bankers. Currently, the rupee trading at 67.16/$, down 3 paise.
