The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27,060 up 53 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,276 uo 10 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.47% at 11,471, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.70% at 11,360.
Bharti Airtel, ONGC, L&T, Tata Motors, ITC, HDFC, Cipla and M&M are among the gainers, whereas Asian Paints, SBI, Bajaj-Auto, Infosys, TCS, Maruti Suzuki and ICICI Bank are losing sheen on BSE.
Some buying activity is seen in telecom, power, capital goods, industrial and utilities and FMCG sectors, while IT, banking and teck are showing weakness on BSE. The INDIA VIX is up 1.54% at 15.1000. Out of 1,803 stocks traded on the NSE, 442 declined, 991 advanced and 370 remained unchanged today.
A total of 34 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 20 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
Alphageo (India) hit 20% upper circuit after the company has received Letter of Award of contracts from Oil & Natural Gas Corpn for acquisition of 2D Seismic Data in un-appraised on land areas of Indian Sedimentary Basins of India as part of the National Seismic Program by March 2019. The estimated contract value of the awards received is about Rs.1482 crore inclusive of taxes. The stock has hit 20% upper circuit for the second consecutive session.
The Indian rupee opened higher by one paise at 66.78/$ against US Dollar on Wednesday as against the previous close of 66.77/$.
