The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26,364 down 33 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,101 down mere nine points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.17% at 11,339, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.50% at 11,368.
Adani Ports, SBI, Tata Motors, GAIL, ONGC, Sun Pharma and ICICI Bank are among the gainers, whereas Hero MotoCorp, HDFC, Bharti Airtel, NTPC and Bajaj-Auto are losing sheen on BSE. Some buying activity is seen in realty, consumer durables, capital goods, pharma, metal and FMCG sectors, while IT, finance and auto showing weakness on BSE.
The INDIA VIX is up 2.54% at 17.0050. Out of 1,791 stocks traded on the NSE, 977 declined, 434 advanced and 380 remained unchanged today. A total of 45 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 12 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
Asian markets are trading on a mixed note. Nikkei 225 and Hang Seng in red. Shanghai Composite marginally up. Wall Street ended lower for a third straight session as Microsoft and Apple dragged on indexes. Dow Jones industrial average was down 132.17 points, or 0.74 per cent, to 17,733.17, the S&P 500 had lost 16.94 points, or 0.81 per cent, to 2,079.13 and the Nasdaq Composite had dropped 46.11 points, or 0.94 per cent, to 4,848.44.
