The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 26,872 up 95 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,229 up 28 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.32% at 11,420, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.62% at 11,242.
SBI, Hero MotoCorp, ICICI Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Wipro, ITC, BHEL, Tata Steel and HUL are among the gainers, whereas Lupin, Sun Pharma, Dr.Reddy's, Adani Ports, Tata Motors, Coal India and Infosys are losing sheen on BSE.
Some buying activity is seen in banking, realty, power, FMCG, utilities and capital goods sectors, while pharma is showing weakness on BSE. The INDIA VIX is down 0.83% at 15.2275. Out of 1,799 stocks traded on the NSE, 353 declined, 964 advanced and 353 remained unchanged today.
A total of 34 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 21 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE. The PSU Bank is trading higher 1.75% at 2,473. The PSU Bank Nifty opened at 2,449 and hits a high of 2,481.50 and a low of 2,447.90. PSU banks are trading higher ahead of RBI policy which could be the last one made by the RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan though much not expected on interest rate front, clues on areas such as GDP, Inflation non-performing assets, and global developments will be watched out for.
