BSE Telecom index is trading in negative territory down by 2% at 1273 level. Bharti Airtel is trading down by 2.1% at Rs 352.7 per share. The stock is dragging the telecom index. MTNL is the top gainer in the Telecom index trading higher by 3.5% at Rs 25.15 per share. Despite other telecom stocks are trading weak, MTNL is trading strong owing to the MTNL-BSNL merger talks.
Bank Nifty is trading lower by 0.5%. ICICI Bank is dragging the Bank Nifty index. HDFC Bank and Axis Bank are trading higher by nearly 0.4%. There are 611 advances, 958 declines and 348 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong positive bias floating in the market.
At 12 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 29653 up 67 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 9155 up 2 points. A total of 60 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 14 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.5% at 13849, while BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.3% at 13972. Some buying activity is seen in Realty, FMCG while Information Technology, Capital Goods, Finance, Telecom and Oil & Gas are showing weakness on BSE.
ITC, HCL Tech, Lupin, Maruti and Tata Steel are among the gainers, whereas Bharti Airtel, Hindalco, BPCL, GAIL and Bharti Infratel are losing sheen on NSE. The INDIA VIX is up 1.34% at 12.07.
