BSE Metal index is the top loser in opening session on Wednesday with all the stock in the index trading in red dragging the index down.Hindalco is down by 2.3%, JSW Steel is down by 1.9%, Sail is down by 1.5%, National Aluminium is down by 1.4%, Vedanta Steel is down by 1.3% and Jindal Steel is down by 1.2%.
The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 29286 down 198 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 9056 down 64 points. A total of 20 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 23 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.9% at 13728, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.5% at 13958.Some buying activity is seen in IT index while, FMCG, Utilities, Capital Goods and Metal indices are showing weakness on BSE.
HCL Tech, Axis Gains, Power Grid, Zeel and Infosys are among the gainers, whereas Bharti Airtel, Hindalco, M&M, ICICI Bank, BHEL, BPCL and Tata Motors are losing on the NSE.The INDIA VIX is up 1% at 12.
