Benchmark indices retained early gains as the Nifty surpassed 9150 level ahead of GST Council meet later today and after Federal Reserve hiked interest rate by 25 basis points.
IT stocks are gaining ground on bourses, Tanla is up by 4.6%, D Link India is up by 3.9%, Aptech is up by 3.9%, Smart Link is up by 2.9% and Trigyn is up by 2.8%.
Whereas, Infosys and TCS are majorly contributing to the BSE IT index gains and lifting the index to higher levels.
BSE Telecom index is the top losing index on Thursday’ trade where TTML is down by 4%, Bharti Airtel is up by 0.8%, and Idea is up by 0.2%.
Bharti Airtel is dragging the sectoral index to its intraday low.
At 11 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 29553 up 155 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 9138 up 53 points. A total of 56 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 56 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 1% at 13840, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.9% at 13985.
Some buying activity is seen in FMCG, Finance, Industrials, IT and Auto indices while, Telecom index is showing weakness on BSE.
Adani Ports, Tata Steel, HCT Tech, Hindalco, Tata Motors DVR and Infosys are among the gainers, whereas Bharti Airtel, Reliance, HDFC Bank and Zeel are losing on the NSE. The INDIA VIX is down 2% at 12.
