Nifty touched its all-time high of 9143 level in the morning hour on Thursday as the US Fed chair for the second time in three months has increase in its benchmark interest rate by a quarter point, to a range of 0.75% to 1%.
Metal stocks in opening hours trade are sizzling on bourses, Jindal Steel is up by 3%, Hindustan Zinc is up by 2.6%, Vedanta Steel is up by 2.4%, JSW Steel is up by 2.2%, Tata Steel is up by 2.1%, Sail is up by 1.7%, National Aluminium is up by 1.7%.
At 10 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 29587 up 189 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 9147 up 56 points. A total of 63 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 35 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.9% at 13829, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.8% at 13981.
Some buying activity is seen in FMCG, Finance, Industrials, IT and Auto indices while, Telecom index is showing weakness on BSE.
Adani Ports, Tata Steel, HCT Tech, Hindalco, Tata Motors DVR and Infosys are among the gainers, whereas Bharti Airtel, Reliance, HDFC Bank and Zeel are losing on the NSE. The INDIA VIX is down 2% at 12.
