PSU Banks are showing weakness. The Nifty PSU Bank index is the top loser among the sectoral indices on NSE. While major pharmaceutical companies are trading in negative territory like Sun Pharma, Dr Reddy’s, Aurobindo Pharma and Glenmark, Lupin Pharmaceutical Limited is trading at Rs 1471 per share up by 1% and is the second top gainer in the Nifty index.
Marksans Pharma Ltd is trading higher by 4.8% at Rs 51.8 per share. Broader markets are trading flat to negative. Mid-cap stock, MRF Limited is pulling down the BSE Mid-cap index. The stock is down by 4.7% at Rs 55489 per share, There are 761 advances, 783 declines and 372 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong positive bias floating in the market.
At 11 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 29742 up 156 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 9174 up 20 points. A total of 56 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 14 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.3% at 13878, while BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.1% at 14006.
Some buying activity is seen in Metal, FMCG and Oil & Gas while Information Technology, Capital Goods, Finance, Telecom are showing weakness on BSE. ITC, HCL Tech, Lupin, Maruti and Tata Steel are among the gainers, whereas Bharti Airtel, Hindalco, BPCL, GAIL and Bharti Infratel are losing sheen on NSE. The INDIA VIX is up 0.7% at 11.9.
