Nifty Auto index has extended its losses in the closing hour on Wednesday. The index was trading at 10,969 level, down by 148 points or 1.34%. Apollo Tyres is top losing stock in the index trading at Rs 270.8 per share, down by 3.44%.Other auto stocks including Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Exide Industries and Motherson Sumi were trading lower by more than 2%.

There were 386 advances, 1,253 declines and 302 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong negative sentiments floating in the market.The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 31,883 down 130 points, while Nifty is trading at 9,943 down 35 points. A total of 25 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 81 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
