The BSE Sensex opened higher by 68.29 points at 28223.85, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 14.3 points at the 8739 mark. The rupee opened at 66.94 per dollar. There
were 843 advances, 509 declines and 439 unchanged stocks on NSE showing
slight positive undertone. TCS is the top Nifty gainer while ITC is the
top Nifty loser in morning hours.
TCS is trading at Rs 2471 per share, up by 2.37%. ITC is trading at Rs 270.35 per share, down by 1.12%. On the upside, immediate resistance is placed around the level of 8750 and major resistance is placed around levels of 8820-8825.
The Asian markets are exhibiting mixed sentiments. Japanese Nikkei 225 is trading lower by 117.31 points or 0.61%. China’s Shanghai Composite index is trading higher by 5.77 points or 0.18%. SGX Nifty is trading higher by 7.50 points or 0.09%.
European markets firmly closed in positive territory. FTSE 100 closed higher by 33.85 points or 0.46%. CAC 40 of France closed higher by 29.04 points or 0.59%. German DAX closed higher by 22.12 points or 0.19%.
The US stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with major indices not only ending at record levels, but extending their winning streaks to a seventh straight session. Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 106.66 points, S&P 500 rose 11.59 points and the Nasdaq Composite Index gained 36.87 points.
