Benchmark Indices Gain In Last Hour Of Trade, Courtesy Banking Stocks

Benchmark indices NSE Nifty closed at 9668 levels, higher by 21 points or 0.22%, whereas the BSE Sensex closed at 31262 levels, higher by 48 points or 0.16%.The hot-selling ‘Swift’ car maker, Maruti Suzuki hit a fresh record high, hitting its 52-week high of Rs 7,419 per share on the BSE. A media report indicated that the company plans to spend Rs 1,000 crore in land acquisition in 2017. The stock closed at Rs 7474 per share higher by over 3.11%.

Videocon Industries, an India-based diversified company, hit its lower circuit of 5% or Rs 28.55 per share for the 15th consecutive straight session during the trading session on Friday.Bank Nifty has touched its fresh 52-week high of 23708 level in the post-lunch hours. The index closed higher by around 154 points at 23690 level. HDFC twins and Kotak Mahindra Bank has touched their fresh 52-week highs on Friday.

Loss-making public-sector enterprise, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) was the top gainer in BSE Telecom index, closed higher by over 6% at around Rs 22.55 per share. The company has proposed to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to monetise its real estate assets in Delhi and Mumbai.

Tech Mahindra tanked over 3% after British voters slammed a major blow to the Prime Minister Theresa May, wiping out her parliamentary majority. The company draws around 29% of its revenues from the European region. The stock closed lower by around 2.5% at Rs 387.5 per share on Friday.
